About the position

The Cyclotron-Engineering Technician is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment in SOFIE's PET radio pharmacy, which manufactures PET diagnostics under regulatory guidelines. This role involves troubleshooting and maintaining electro/mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and providing technical support to other employees.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, non-routine, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on the cyclotron(s).
  • Complete documentation related to maintenance activities per work instructions, including preventative maintenance, repair, and audit logs.
  • Plan and execute maintenance activities on a schedule determined by the Tech Services management team.
  • Perform diagnosis and repair on electronic equipment, electro-pneumatic systems, high vacuum systems, and high voltage systems.
  • Provide timely information to supervisors regarding equipment operation and status.
  • Maintain and repair all PET manufacturing equipment at the facility, including lead-shielded hot cells and manipulator arms.
  • Oversee the work of third-party contractors on equipment related to manufacturing in collaboration with the Facility Manager.
  • Perform radiation safety duties to ensure compliance with regulations under the Corporate and site RSO.
  • Ensure compliance with all procedures and regulations within the site under the Quality Assurance program.
  • Provide technical training and support to other employees.
  • Operate the cyclotron(s) according to proper operating procedures when required, including night and weekend shifts.
  • Provide after-hours on-call support to the site as needed.
  • Submit all work tickets, time cards, and expense reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in engineering technology or 2+ years experience as an electro-mechanical technician.
  • Military training/experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of digital and analog circuitry is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronics down to the component level is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings is required.
  • Expert use of hand tools is required.
  • Previous experience working in hazardous environments is required.
  • Knowledge of lockout/tagout processes is required.
  • Knowledge of radiation survey meters is a plus.
  • Experience in diagnosis and repair of equipment failures is required.
  • Experience with high voltage training is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic cGMP practices and procedures is a plus.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions is required.
  • Experience working with radioactive materials is a plus.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in protective clothing, operate in confined spaces, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs is required.
  • Occupational exposure to ionizing radiation is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and dependability are required.
  • Ability to work independently is required.
  • Experience in Microsoft Suite is required.
