About the position

The CYS Training Specialist NF-04 position at the Department of Defense Child & Youth Services in Tracy, CA, is responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive training and professional development program that promotes the positive growth and development of children and youth. This role involves designing and conducting training sessions, managing program budgets, and assessing staff competency to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a comprehensive training and professional development program for children and youth.
• Design, administer, and conduct training requirements based on course outlines.
• Conduct training in both on-the-job and classroom settings.
• Design and implement an annual CYS program plan including training goals and objectives.
• Observe program settings to assess and evaluate staff competency and provide feedback.
• Manage program budget and conduct written analyses of budget variances.
• Prepare justification for funding of program resource requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
• Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least 24 semester hours in child development or related areas.
• At least 12 months of experience working in child and youth programs.
• At least one year of experience in a similar role at a lower grade level.
• Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems, and recognize solutions.
• Experience in planning and conducting training for child and youth staff.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

• Experience in a supervisory role within child and youth programs.
• Knowledge of federal regulations related to child and youth services.
