About the position

The Cytotechnologist at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is responsible for performing anatomical pathology procedures with a focus on microscopic evaluation and reporting. This part-time position requires independent judgment and expertise in cytotechnology, contributing to the overall mission of providing whole-person care. The role involves analytical activities, quality control, and maintaining compliance with regulations while actively participating in customer service and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform microscopic evaluation and reporting of gynecological and non-gynecological slide preparations.
• Conduct pre-and post-analytical activities related to assigned tests, including specimen collection and processing.
• Perform molecular testing and correlate findings with morphological evaluations.
• Assist in data collection for research or publication purposes.
• Complete routine screenings for cell specimens and document daily workload records.
• Process specimens for analysis according to specifications.
• Assist in the collection and processing of fine needle aspiration specimens.
• Document and submit required laboratory and departmental statistics/reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program.
• Certified Cytotechnologist (ASCP) certification required.

Nice-to-haves

• Three years of technical experience in cytotechnology.
• Master's degree in a related field.
