About the position

Responsibilities

• Perform microscopic evaluation and reporting of negative gynecological thin layer slide preparations.
• Evaluate and formulate opinions for the pathologist on abnormal gynecological thin layer, non-gynecological, and fine needle aspiration slide preparations.
• Correlate current cases with previous cytologic specimens as needed.
• Perform assigned pre-and post-analytical activities related to tests, including specimen collection and processing, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
• Conduct molecular testing and ancillary testing from specimen vials and correlate with morphologic findings.
• Assist in the collection and processing of fine needle aspiration specimens.
• Document and submit required laboratory, departmental, and staff statistics/reports.
• Participate in data collection for research or publication of papers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program.
• Certified Cytotechnologist (ASCP) certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Three years of technical experience in cytotechnology.
• Master's degree in a related field.
