About the position
The Cytology Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all laboratory operations and personnel in the Cytology Laboratory section. This role ensures that patient specimens and information are processed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner. The supervisor provides technical and scientific oversight, maintains a supportive environment for employees and patients, and is accessible to the laboratories at all times.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, plan, and control all laboratory operations and personnel in the Cytology Laboratory section.
- Ensure patient specimens and information are processed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
- Provide general supervision and technical oversight for specialty areas within the laboratory.
- Maintain a healing environment for employees and patients, incorporating a spirit of caring and concern.
- Be accessible to the laboratories at all times, either on site or by telephone.
Requirements
- Minimum of 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of acceptable coursework with 20 semester hours (30 quarter hours) in Biology plus successful completion of 12 months training in an approved school of Cytotechnology.
- A Bachelor's degree plus successful completion of 12 months training in an accredited school of Cytotechnology or equivalent experience is acceptable.
- ASCP or equivalent registration is preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years full-time experience as a Cytotechnologist within the preceding 10 years.
