About the position
The Senior Permitting Manager at D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) will lead permitting projects across the company's extensive portfolio of renewable energy projects. This role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, providing expert support, and collaborating with internal teams and external consultants to drive permitting initiatives effectively. The position can be performed remotely or from the Denver or New York offices, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and consult on permitting matters across DESRI's development portfolio.
- Provide expert environmental support and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Support due diligence efforts related to environmental permitting, siting, and approvals.
- Collaborate with and advise the team on a wide array of environmental topics.
- Drive initiatives around environmental assessments, local discretionary permits, and state siting approvals.
- Work closely with external consultants to ensure permitting strategies meet project objectives and financial goals.
- Assess and communicate environmental risks to internal and external decision makers.
- Ensure cost-effective solutions for permitting challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, biology, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in environmental consulting or permitting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical acumen and effective project management abilities.

- Experience in consulting and renewable energy is preferred.
