About the position
The DAEP Aide Instructional position involves assisting students and the classroom teacher by performing various instructional tasks under direct supervision. The role is essential in providing support to the educational process, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment for students in the DAEP program.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional support for the classroom teacher
- Assist with record keeping, preparation, and development of instruction and assistance to students
- Provide coverage for the classroom during teacher meetings
- Operate a variety of classroom instructional equipment, including computers and audio/visual equipment
- Work with individual students and small groups on assignments
- Cooperate with substitute teachers in providing instruction and assistance to students
- Participate and attend required campus and/or district meetings
- Assist in supervising DAEP students on the playground and during school-sponsored activities
- Perform clerical tasks such as typing correspondence and copying materials
- Assist in the safe and orderly movement of all DAEP students to and from the classroom
- Lift, position, and restrain students when necessary to maintain a safe environment
- Collect data and maintain student records and charts for determining student progress in collaboration with the teacher
Requirements
- Minimum of 48 college hours or passing score on the Para Professional Assessment of Knowledge
- Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification required to obtain Texas Educational Aide Certification preferred or will be required to obtain within 10 days of hire
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience working with children preferred
