ABC News ENG Operations is seeking a skilled Broadcast Engineer, able to work in a 24/7/365 Network News Coverage environment. The role supports a wide variety of operational broadcast systems that provide remote video transmission, communications, monitoring, and various technical support for the entire lineup of award-winning ABC News' shows and platforms including Good Morning America, World News Tonight With David Muir, GMA3, The View, and Nightline. This position is crucial for ensuring that all broadcast operations run smoothly and efficiently, particularly in high-pressure situations that are typical in news coverage. The Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and operating all remote production ENG equipment, which includes field control room systems, camera control systems, robotic cameras, and field audio and video systems. Additionally, the engineer will work with IT audio, video, and communications systems, as well as encoder/decoder transmission equipment. The role also involves operating ENG/SNG Satellite trucks and assisting in system design, purchasing, vetting, constructing, and commissioning new technologies in the field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in broadcast engineering, particularly in field broadcast work, and will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve issues with broadcast and multimedia systems in production environments. This position requires exceptional collaboration and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work various shifts and weekends, as event coverage and location-based production frequently require extended hours in a fast-paced news environment.
