About the position

The Daily Substitute Teacher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School is responsible for filling in for classroom teachers (K-8th grade) during their temporary absence. This part-time role involves following lesson plans, managing classroom activities, and ensuring a safe and positive learning environment for students. The substitute teacher will also engage with students, provide necessary resources, and compile reports for the regular teacher.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a well-managed classroom and a safe, positive learning environment.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground, and in the cafeteria.
• Follow and implement lesson plans, classwork, homework, and tests.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences if needed.
• Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
• Compile a report for the teacher that includes student attendance, lesson-plan progress, disciplinary actions, and positive developments.
• Knowledge of emergency evacuation routes, school procedures, and regulations for the classrooms assigned.
• Support the school in developing an organizational culture characterized by a commitment to faith, continuous learning, quality, integrity, mutual respect, and Catholic values.
• Model the expectations of the school and diocese according to the mission and vision espoused.

Requirements

• Bachelor in Education or related field.
• Teaching certification is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and supervise an educational program set by the classroom teacher.
• Effective communication skills with parents, students, and co-workers in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
• Understanding of child development and skills necessary to relate to students.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, credibility, integrity, and self-confidence.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a classroom setting as a teacher or substitute teacher.
• Familiarity with Catholic educational values and teachings.
