About the position

The Dairy Division Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management of the dairy operation, ensuring optimal performance in areas such as milking, maternity, herd health, and barn maintenance. This role involves developing and training supervisors and team members, maintaining high standards of milk quality, and implementing safety procedures. The manager will also focus on continuous improvement and team culture, ensuring effective onboarding and training of new employees.

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall dairy operations including milking, maternity, hospital, breeding, feeding, herd health, and barn maintenance.
  • Develop and train supervisors and direct reports in the management model.
  • Ensure barn maintenance and best-in-class milk quality.
  • Implement and maintain all department SOPs and safety procedures.
  • Foster a positive team member culture and continuous improvement in operations.
  • Onboard new team members using the approved program to achieve a 90% retention rate.
  • Train team members to demonstrate SOPs according to their competency level.
  • Recommend changes or improvements to SOPs as per company policy.
  • Schedule supervision meetings based on team members' competency levels.
  • Identify and develop at least 3 high potential team members for promotions to supervisor roles.
  • Report weekly metrics to the Director of Operations and understand key performance indicators for success.
  • Monitor and control consumable usage within budget and report monthly to the Director of Operations.
  • Conduct bi-annual Animal Welfare Trainings for team members.
  • Attend weekly management meetings to promote teamwork and culture.
  • Supervise maintenance team members to ensure facilities are well-maintained.
  • Develop a highly skilled maintenance team with supervisors.
  • Research continuous improvement opportunities in SOPs and equipment.
  • Maintain the maintenance schedule for all equipment.
  • Oversee 3,500 acres of farm ground for high-quality feed production.
  • Manage manure collection and application in compliance with regulations.
  • Oversee harvest teams to ensure safety and feed quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related agricultural degree.
  • 2 years of experience in supervising and managing livestock operations or related fields.
