About the position

As an Environmental Senior Project Manager, you will lead and manage all phases of dam removal and stream restoration projects, from initial assessment and planning through permitting, design, construction, and post-removal monitoring. You will apply advanced knowledge of stream and restoration techniques to design and implement projects that restore natural hydrology, improve water quality, and enhance habitat connectivity. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations is a key responsibility. You will provide technical guidance and oversight on sediment transport, geomorphic assessments, and ecological monitoring related to dam removal and stream restoration. This position requires overseeing the work of others and managing small and complex projects of various types. You will prepare project proposals and budgets, lead business development initiatives, serve as a technical resource to junior staff, and review technical deliverables, invoices, and field reports prepared by junior staff. You will also be responsible for maintaining a sufficient workload for all junior staff under your supervision and will interact daily with clients, maintaining a client database and participating in business development and client marketing events. Physical demands may include climbing, close visual acuity, and wearing personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of dam removal and stream restoration projects.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of stream and restoration techniques to design and implement projects.
  • Ensure all projects comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight on sediment transport, geomorphic assessments, and ecological monitoring.
  • Prepare project proposals and budgets, including complex proposals in response to publicly solicited requests for proposals.
  • Lead business development initiatives within operating groups.
  • Serve as a technical resource to junior staff in areas of expertise.
  • Review technical deliverables, invoices, and field reports prepared by junior staff.
  • Supervise junior staff directly and maintain a sufficient workload for them.
  • Independently solve day-to-day problems on projects with limited direction.
  • Maintain daily client interaction and participate in business development and client marketing events.

Requirements

  • BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or related field required.
  • 10+ years of related experience in dam removal and stream restoration project experience.
  • In-depth understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes related to dam removal and stream restoration.
  • Proven track record of project and people management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP) license.
