About the position

As a Structural Engineer specializing in Dams and Waterfront structures at Ramboll US Corporation, you will play a crucial role in delivering innovative and high-quality design solutions. In this role, you will support various structural investigations, analyses, designs, and construction phase engineering related to dam safety, waterfront improvements, and other heavy civil works projects. Your responsibilities will include writing inspection and investigation reports, performing stress and stability analyses, developing design concepts for concrete, steel, and wood structures, and preparing final structural details, plans, and specifications. You will be involved in evaluating and analyzing the design and construction phases of various hydraulic conveyance structures, including dams, intakes, outlet works, and other appurtenant structures. Your work will also involve conducting structural inspections and field activities at project sites, compiling data, and developing comprehensive reports that summarize your findings and analyses. You will assist in the development of design concepts and criteria, conduct alternative design evaluations, and perform constructability reviews. Additionally, you will prepare detailed design calculations, technical reports, and construction plans for complex projects, ensuring quality assurance and value engineering throughout the process. Staying current with engineering standards and practices through involvement in technical societies and associations will also be a key aspect of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform evaluation and analysis, design, and construction phase review of dams, intakes, outlet works, and other hydraulic conveyance and appurtenant structures.
  • Conduct structural inspections and field activities at various project sites, including dams and waterfront structures.
  • Compile data and develop report narratives of inspections, basis of design, and analysis summaries for design reports.
  • Assist in the development of design concepts, analysis methodologies, and constructability reviews.
  • Prepare detailed design calculations, engineering reports, and construction plans for complex structures.
  • Engage in technical societies to stay current with engineering standards and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer or on track for licensing
  • 5+ years of experience in structural design, particularly in reinforced concrete and steel frame structures
  • Knowledge of national and industrial engineering design codes and standards
  • Experience with STAAD PRO, GT STRUDL, MathCAD, Enercalc, and other engineering analysis software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with design of gravity dams, retaining walls, and related hydraulic structures
  • Familiarity with dam and levee safety guidelines from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other agencies
  • Experience with post-tensioned anchor systems and heavy civil structures
  • Knowledge of Excel VBA, Matlab, or similar software for computations and analysis.
