About the position

The Information Security Specialist at U.S. Bank plays a crucial role in the U.S. Bancorp Global Security Operations Center, focusing on the continuous monitoring of cybersecurity threats and responding to security alerts. This position involves operational monitoring, triage of security alerts, and collaboration with other teams to resolve cybersecurity events. The role also includes implementing Data Access Governance security solutions to protect data from unauthorized access and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform operational monitoring and triage of security alerts.
  • Analyze and properly disposition security events generated from various tools.
  • Participate in process and procedure development for cybersecurity operations.
  • Engage with other information security and IT teams to resolve cybersecurity events.
  • Implement and support Data Access Governance security solutions.
  • Identify new security issues and risks, developing mitigation plans.
  • Serve as a technical and functional subject matter expert across multiple security domains.
  • Mentor junior team members on processes and procedures.
  • Evaluate technology solutions and provide feedback.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in security engineering, including DLP or DAG.
  • Experience with Active Directory and multiple domains.
  • Knowledge of Windows 2016/2019 server and local security policy.
  • Understanding of Microsoft SQL and SQL Management Studio.
  • Familiarity with NTFS/Shared Network Folders and complex permission sets.
  • Comfortable with Linux commands and operating systems (Red Hat, SUSE, Ubuntu).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Knowledge of DFS and its relation to server shares.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive.
  • Knowledge of Azure security and Office 365.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Certifications in information security (e.g., CISSP, CISM).
  • Familiarity with cloud security practices.
