About the position

The Data Analyst 1 position is a part-time role designed to support the Church's mission by providing essential data analysis and reporting services. This role requires a seasoned individual capable of performing independent analysis and judgment, coupled with extensive clerical or secretarial experience. The incumbent will be responsible for making important daily decisions regarding the operation or production of data, as well as the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of information. The position is hybrid, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work, which is essential for meeting the diverse needs of the Church's global membership. In this role, the Data Analyst will primarily work with structured data from a single system. Key responsibilities include creating standardized dashboards and reports, monitoring data quality, and resolving any data issues that arise from the data systems. The analyst will define the data's origin, capture methods, and consumption processes, ensuring that the data is reliable, complete, and valid. This includes validating data quality, addressing accessibility and usability issues, and engaging in data modeling and structuring. The Data Analyst will also be tasked with channeling data to relevant stakeholders, performing predictive and statistical modeling, building queries, and ensuring quality assurance. Reporting will be a significant aspect of the role, as the analyst will use business requirements to develop actionable and measurable dashboards and reports. Effective communication regarding data access and usage will also be crucial, as the analyst will provide insights that enable business leaders to make informed decisions based on the data provided.

Responsibilities

  • Create standardized dashboards and reports from structured data.
  • Monitor data quality and resolve data issues from data systems.
  • Define data sources, capture methods, and consumption processes.
  • Validate data quality including sources, reliability, completeness, validity, and uniqueness.
  • Address accessibility, usability, data modeling, and structuring.
  • Channel data to where it is needed, including predictive/statistical modeling and query building.
  • Report using business requirements to develop actionable and measurable dashboards and reports.
  • Provide audience access and instructions on data use.
  • Deliver insights that enable business leaders to make informed decisions.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Experience performing single system data validation and quality assessments.
  • Knowledge and skill in Business Objects and Tableau.
  • Ability to write queries and reports using R and SQL.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work with moderate oversight and meet established deadlines.
  • Experience in delivering defined projects with frequent oversight.
