About the position
As a Data Analyst 1 at Maverik, you will be instrumental in transforming data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. This role involves working closely with business teams and executive leadership to empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will utilize various analytical tools to extract valuable insights from diverse data sources, including fuel sales and geospatial data, to help shape the future of Maverik's convenience experience.
Responsibilities
- Drive exploratory data analysis and derive hypotheses that inform business decision-making
- Generate, validate, and communicate concise reporting to collaborators and leadership
- Run ad-hoc analysis and modeling to answer business questions and support data-driven decision-making
- Ensure the accuracy and accessibility of data sources, safeguarding confidentiality and security of data
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze spatial data, generate insights, and support data-driven decision-making
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics
- Experience in a role performing data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence
- Introductory knowledge of SQL and R or Python
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Experience with Posit Team, Google's Looker, Qualtrics preferred
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize and balance competing needs
- History of taking the initiative to identify and solve work-related problems
- Experience in exercising initiative and sound judgment in decision-making
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with advanced data visualization tools
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts
- Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques
