About the position

The Data Analyst 3 role at Nordstrom focuses on marketing optimization and analytics, responsible for collecting, analyzing, and presenting data to enhance decision-making processes. This position aims to improve marketing performance through data-driven insights, causal inference methods, and experimental design, ultimately contributing to the company's vision of being the best data-driven fashion retailer in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with key stakeholders to define success and develop measurement frameworks.
  • Analyze complex business problems and provide insights on marketing channel performance through hypothesis testing, causal inference, and experimentation.
  • Deliver a suite of analytical products including analyses, dashboards, insights, and recommendations.
  • Present results to stakeholders up to the executive level and guide them in utilizing analytics effectively.
  • Define and implement new metrics for marketing performance.
  • Collaborate with marketing partners like Google, Meta, and TikTok to set up experiments measuring incrementality of marketing channels.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage data for new strategies and improved marketing performance.
  • Provide high-quality solutions and recommendations independently and collaboratively with team members and business partners.
  • Communicate data insights through storytelling to audiences with varying technical expertise.
  • Manage divergent demands from multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mentor junior team members on analytics, storytelling, and communication best practices.
  • Utilize advanced analytical and statistical practices to generate actionable insights.
  • Collaborate to apply learnings across channels, campaigns, products, and business units.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field; advanced quantitative degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations.
  • Strong coding skills in at least one statistical or programming language (R or Python preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in extracting and manipulating large data sets from relational databases using SQL (Amazon Redshift, Oracle, Teradata preferred).
  • Previous marketing analytics experience is essential.
  • Experience with causal inference, causal measurement, and experimental design is required.
  • Familiarity with statistical and machine learning algorithms for business analysis (e.g., regression, classification, clustering).
  • Proficiency with advanced graphics/visualization software/packages (e.g., R-Shiny, ggplot, plotly, matplotlib, Tableau, Looker Studio).
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with various teams and personnel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage ambiguous projects independently.
