Data Analyst *(3rd Shift)*

About the position

The Data Analyst I position at Sperry Rail Inc. involves analyzing ultrasonic test data to identify rail defects and ensure compliance with railway authorities' requirements. The role requires the use of specialized software to interpret data, generate reports, and maintain accurate records, contributing to the safety and efficiency of railway operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze ultrasonic test data from Sperry's Non-Stop test units.
• Generate lists of suspected rail defects within compliance requirements.
• Interpret digital images to identify suspect rail defects using specialist software.
• Review and correct track positioning data files against standard formats.
• Classify and prioritize images using reporter software according to railway industry criteria.
• Compare previous and current data sets using Twin View to ensure compliance with legislation.
• Establish the actual vehicle route using GPS coordinates and produce track tested reports.
• Carry out daily archiving associated with the role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of experience in data analysis, preferably in a rail testing environment.
• Proficiency in SQL and advanced computer literacy.
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience as a rail tester.
