About the position

Scripps Health Administrative Services supports our five hospitals and 19 outpatient facilities, which treat half a million patients annually through 2,600 affiliated physicians. This is a full-time, hourly position, Monday through Friday, located at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. As the Data Analyst, you will support Case Management and Social Work at both Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego and Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista to provide the best patient care for a safe, timely discharge by generating accurate and timely reports. This position is ideal for the candidate experienced in using reporting tools through Epic, Microsoft Power BI, and Excel, as well as foundational knowledge in medical insurance. In this role, you will maintain department-specific databases and ensure the accuracy of data. You will apply broad knowledge in providing data analytics services to clients, gathering operational data to examine past business performance. Your responsibilities will include identifying data patterns and trends, providing insights to enhance business decision-making capability in business planning, process improvement, and solution assessment. You will also recommend actions for future developments and strategic business opportunities, as well as enhancements to operational policies. Additionally, you may be involved in exploratory data analysis, confirmatory data analysis, and/or qualitative analysis.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Good critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of database functionality with ability to translate customer requests into actionable reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Epic BO Portal and Epic reporting workbench.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI Dashboards and Excel (reporting, graphs, pivot tables).
  • Knowledge of medical insurance.
