About the position

The University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy is seeking a full-time Data Analyst to support research projects by analyzing administrative health claims data using SAS. The role involves programming variables, creating analytical datasets, assisting with statistical analyses, and providing quality assurance for data management. The analyst will also support graduate students and trainees with their programming needs under the supervision of Dr. Joel F. Farley.

Responsibilities

  • Create and justify analytical datasets and methods to support research projects using health claims and secondary data sources.
  • Run statistical models and provide statistical output under the direction of a supervisor.
  • Assist with the acquisition and maintenance of data, including completing Data Use Agreements and maintaining an inventory of data sources.
  • Provide consulting and programming support to graduate students and other trainees.

Requirements

  • M.S. in bioinformatics, biostatistics, or a related field with at least one year of related research training.
  • Advanced proficiency with SAS.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with large relational databases and processing healthcare datasets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters level or higher degree in health informatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or health services research.
  • Proficiency in Stata and/or R.
  • Experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, or data mining.
  • Data visualization experience.
