About the position

The Data Analyst, Financial Aid at Marquette University plays a crucial role in managing data and research activities related to financial aid. This position focuses on internal research, data collection, and reporting to support data-driven decision-making within the department. The analyst will also provide backup for systems administration and assist in general financial aid administration, contributing to the university's mission of enhancing student success and access to education.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement activities related to data management and research for financial aid.
  • Conduct internal research and data collection using tools like SQL and Power BI to facilitate departmental decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis to provide data for major surveys such as the Common Data Set and IPEDS.
  • Assist in analyzing the impact of legislative and regulatory changes on financial aid and present data to staff as needed.
  • Lead web development efforts for the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) website and serve as a resource for content management.
  • Manage file exchanges with the Department of Education and oversee Direct Loan exit counseling letters.
  • Ensure data security for financial aid data and provide training on data security practices.
  • Create and maintain a master database of financial aid-related data.
  • Provide on-demand data to other offices at Marquette University.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues and train users on new software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with experience in applying information technology to business functions.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of financial aid processes, both federal and institutional.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with SQL and data analysis tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in computer science or information technology.
  • Five years of experience in applying information technology to business functions.
  • Prior experience with PeopleSoft Student System financial aid module.
  • Experience working at Marquette University.
