About the position

The Data Analyst position at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) involves collaborating with the Health team to address challenges in healthcare quality, costs, and access. The role focuses on analyzing healthcare data, supporting research and technical assistance projects funded by federal agencies, and contributing to the overall mission of promoting a more equitable world through evidence-based research and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Query large databases including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer claims data
  • Construct and document analytic data files
  • Create customized and presentation-quality reports from data analysis results
  • Apply quantitative methods and techniques to manage and analyze research data
  • Participate in the design of research studies
  • Manage administrative aspects of projects
  • Support the preparation of technical procedures and reports
  • Review work products to ensure quality and consistency of content

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related quantitative analytics field with a minimum of 2 years quantitative research experience in health policy or a related field, OR a Master's degree in quantitative analytics field, health policy, public policy, or public health
  • 2 years of experience in SQL/Python/Linux
  • Experience processing and analyzing Medicare, Medicaid, or other commercial claims data
  • Knowledge of data analysis and data management techniques

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Snowflake and Databricks preferred, but not required
