About the position

The Data Analyst I position at the City of Tucson's Police Department is responsible for assisting in the design, building, and maintenance of business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis to support operational decision-making. This entry-level role involves applying routine statistical methods and data analytics to enhance operations under the supervision of an Analysis Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with creating and maintaining solutions and dashboards on digital visualization platforms.
  • Researches and resolves issues related to programming and scripting languages, data visualization platforms, and statistical methodologies.
  • Identifies business intelligence, reporting, and data analytics needs at the department level.
  • Assists with operational functions using relational databases, GIS software, and statistical programs.
  • Provides analytical insights by gathering and analyzing data from various sources.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a relevant field.
  • Under one year of directly related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Finance.
