About the position

CORE Electric Cooperative is seeking a Data Analyst II to join our Data Architecture team, reporting to the Data Architecture Manager, located in the Sedalia office. As a data analyst, you will be responsible for collecting, processing, analyzing, and reporting data to support business decisions and strategic initiatives. You will also collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify data needs, design solutions, and communicate insights. This position will be responsible to the Data Architecture Manager and will be a key support role to realize our data strategy and roadmap. The data analyst will be involved in enhancing our existing data warehouse, supporting our data governance and security processes, as well as supporting dashboard design and development of extract, transform and load (ETL) processes. In this role, you will collaborate with the Data Architecture Manager and business stakeholders to understand and capture data requirements and objectives in order to translate business needs into effective data solutions. You will build integration requirements and support integration development for internal and external data sources. Additionally, you will support and drive the design and development of scalable and efficient data warehouses, leveraging best practices for data modeling, ETL processes, and data storage. Your responsibilities will also include creating and managing databases, implementing integration solutions, and ensuring data consistency and security. You will be expected to monitor the performance and stability of integrations, support a formal data governance framework, and ensure the quality and accuracy of data within the warehouse. Furthermore, you will design and create sophisticated visualizations using tools like Tableau and Power BI, and support business end users in their creation of dashboards and reports. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage small to medium sized end-to-end data projects and support larger projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Data Architecture Manager and business stakeholders to understand and capture data requirements and objectives.
  • Build integration requirements and support integration development for internal and external data sources.
  • Support and drive the design and development of scalable and efficient data warehouses, leveraging best practices for data modeling, ETL processes, and data storage.
  • Create and manage databases, including schema design, indexing, and data modeling.
  • Implement integration solutions to facilitate data exchange between various applications, systems, and platforms using ETL tools.
  • Implement connectors for querying and reporting on the data warehouse, including business intelligence (BI) tools.
  • Resolve integration-related issues to ensure data consistency.
  • Monitor the performance and stability of integrations.
  • Implement security measures to protect data during transit and storage.
  • Work within and support a formal data governance framework that defines the structure, roles, and responsibilities for data governance.
  • Support the classification of data based on its sensitivity and criticality.
  • Use established processes to ensure the quality and accuracy of data within the warehouse.
  • Use monitoring tools to track the health and performance of the data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and capture dashboard and analytic requirements.
  • Design and create sophisticated and meaningful visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Excel.
  • Apply best practices and design principles to enhance the visual appeal and usability of visualizations.
  • Leverage low/no-code tools such as Power Automate and Power Apps as needed.
  • Support business end users in their creation of dashboards and reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject-matter experts, consultants, and vendors.
  • Manage small to medium sized end-to-end data projects and support large sized end-to-end data projects.
  • Analyze performance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend enhancements for existing data-focused solutions.
  • Perform Data and Dashboard testing processes to ensure quality product to end users.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of data-focused configurations, code, and processes for future reference and troubleshooting.
  • Support CORE's Artificial Intelligence strategy and roadmap as it relates to data needs.
  • Manage vendors engaged in data-related projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computer science, data science, information technology, statistics, mathematics, business, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Data Analyst or similar role.
  • Firm understanding of data modeling, data architectures (data warehouse, data lake, lake house), integration methodologies, database administration, and relevant software and tools.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in database, integration, and data management.
  • Understanding and implementation experience in SQL and database platforms such as SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as SQL Server Integration Services and Pentaho PDI.
  • Experience with low/no-code tools such as Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Advanced experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability and willingness to stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leading small to medium sized teams, formally or informally, towards the execution of a project, deliverable, or initiative.
  • Understanding of project management concepts.
  • Experience with mainstream Data and Data Governance platforms such as Microsoft Fabric.
  • Ability to use scripting and automation languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, PowerShell).
  • Exposure to Artificial Intelligence implementations and tools (Copilot, machine learning, large language models, natural language processing).
  • Knowledge of electric utility data and applications such as advanced metering infrastructure, outage management, work order management, billing & payments, and customer information systems.
