About the position

The Data Analyst II position focuses on ensuring the quality and reliability of data warehouse systems. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of databases, ETL processes, and data validation techniques. The analyst will perform data quality assessments, create and execute test cases, and collaborate with development teams to optimize data integrity and performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases designed to detect issues in data warehousing systems
• Validate ETL processes, ensuring that data is correctly extracted, transformed, and loaded into the data warehouse
• Conduct report, dashboard, and semantic layer testing in tools like Cognos and Tableau
• Perform data quality checks to verify accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data
• Develop and maintain automated testing scripts for data validation and ETL processes
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Developers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve any data quality issues
• Log, track, and report defects and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of test plans, test cases, and testing procedures
• Ensure data warehouse processes comply with departmental standards

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, plus 2 years of relevant technology experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5 years of relevant technology experience
• Experience using Cognos extracts
• Detailed data warehouse and SQL knowledge
• Understanding of data warehouse development and QA experience preferred
