About the position

The Data Analyst position at Oklahoma City Public Schools involves managing and processing student data for a large urban public school district. The role focuses on ensuring data accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations, interfacing with various education data platforms, and supporting research efforts. The analyst will prepare reports for state and federal agencies, provide technical assistance to other departments, and design SQL-based processes to maintain the integrity of student and staff information.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with project staff and district administrators to maintain timelines and meet required deadlines
  • Review and compile complex student data and edit for accuracy and completeness
  • Extract student data from various sources, transform/clean, and load to OKCPS student information system
  • Reconcile student data between district student information systems and state and federal information sources
  • Prepare district data files to fulfill reporting requirements for various state and federal education agencies
  • Work with all departments, divisions, schools, and outside agencies to establish, maintain, and archive computerized data sources
  • Provide technical assistance to other departments and outside evaluation sources for data management and reconciliation of data
  • Create, test, and verify programming syntax that generate data files for program evaluation and research
  • Design, document, build, and test custom SQL reports
  • Develop and implement SQL processes for data management and warehousing
  • Exercise general supervision of research efforts to preclude any violations of the rights of students, teachers, or staff members
  • Assist with distributing, collecting, and maintaining security of testing information or materials
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in data management, data analytics, statistics, research methods, program evaluation, psychometrics, sociology, experimental psychology, economics, or computer science
  • Significant experience in designing, maintaining, and manipulating large scale databases
  • Knowledge of relational databases
  • Proficiency with reporting tools - SSRS, Visual Studio, Tableau, Power BI
  • Proficiency with SQL programming and analysis
  • Proficiency with SPSS, R, or other statistical analysis software
  • Experience with large-scale education databases
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (including Excel)
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Competence in database creation, project management, and strategic planning
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in PK-12 research
  • Experience with the analyses and reporting of State of Oklahoma and other standardized testing implementations
