About the position

The Senior Systems Analyst in Revenue Cycle Administration at NYC Health + Hospitals is responsible for analyzing financial data related to patient billing and revenue cycles. This role involves data gathering, entry, cleaning, and generating reports to support the organization's mission of delivering high-quality healthcare services. The analyst will utilize various data sources and tools to track performance metrics and provide insights that drive operational improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data from various sources, such as electronic health records (EHR), EPIC billing & clinical systems, and other healthcare databases.
  • Enter and maintain data in relevant databases or software systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and correct errors or inconsistencies in data to ensure high-quality datasets according to specifications.
  • Analyze financial data related to patient billing, claims, reimbursements, and revenue cycles to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue cycle, such as denial rates, payment turnaround times, and collection rates.
  • Create and distribute regular and ad-hoc reports to management, highlighting key findings, trends, and recommendations.
  • Develop charts, graphs, and dashboards to present data insights in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Baccalaureate Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience in analysis, development, and implementation of systems and sub-systems in business, government, hospital, educational, or non-profit organizations.
  • Familiarity with EDP applications and data processing programs.
  • A Master's Degree in Management, Business Administration, or approved related fields may equate to a maximum of one year of related experience.
  • A satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ year in handling sensitive data, administrative work, Data Entry, Reporting, Revenue Cycle terminologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with a strong preference for Excel.
  • Experience with patient accounting practices.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or other BI platforms.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for learning new skills and adapting to new roles.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent research and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
