About the position

The Data Analyst through Data Analyst Sr. position in Revenue Management is a critical analytical role that provides multifunctional support to the Revenue Management team while managing various projects. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with team members to ensure the assurance of revenue and the reconciliation of payments through effective collection processes. The successful candidate will assist the Revenue Management manager in overseeing initiatives that guarantee accurate, complete, and timely execution of tasks. This includes supporting the development of applications that meet operational requirements and creating managerial reports that address business issues effectively. In this role, the Data Analyst will be responsible for generating internal metrics reporting on the quality and performance of the Billing, Payment, and Collections processes. This involves data mining and maintaining aggregate performance data necessary for both REP billing and direct billed processes. The position also entails gathering data from various sources, designing and maintaining applications to address revenue controls, and providing oversight and guidance to the Revenue Management team. Training team members on new operational applications and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement integrated business strategies are also key responsibilities. The Data Analyst will manage internal projects related to Revenue Management's systems, ensuring compliance with market regulations and minimizing customer impacts during system issues. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of operating in a fast-paced environment and managing high levels of stress and responsibility. The position is designed for individuals who can adapt to changing markets and processes while demonstrating proven analytical skills and leadership qualities.

Responsibilities

  • Generate internal metrics reporting on the quality and performance of the Billing, Payment & Collections processes.
  • Gather data from various sources utilizing data mining skills, such as Cognos, ODS, CIS, RightNow and ERCOT MarkeTrak.
  • Design, build/enhance, test, implement and maintain application(s) to address revenue controls, such as SOX Controls, Internal Audit, and operational controls.
  • Provide oversight, leadership, and guidance of daily analytic responsibilities within the Revenue Management team.
  • Train the Revenue Management team on new operational and process management applications.
  • Work cross functionally with Distribution Operations, Rates and Regulatory and technology partners to implement integrated business strategies and processes.
  • Assist the Revenue Management manager and team with management of billing, revenue controls and REP payment and collections activities.
  • Collaboratively interact with Revenue Management teams to design, build/enhance, test, implement and maintain applications to address work management, performance data, and operational controls.
  • Manage internal projects and defects regarding Revenue Management's internal and external systems revenue controls, payments and collections.
  • Assist with system stability and cleanup efforts to ensure Market compliance and minimize customer impacts regarding billing, revenue controls, payments and collections.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent is required; Bachelor Degree in Business, Information Technology or a related field, preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of analytics experience; intermediate analytics background, preferred.
  • Intermediate experience as a business data analyst, preferred.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products, preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of CIS system experience, a plus.
  • Minimum 1 year working with relational databases, queries, stored procedures, reports, forms, maintain documentation and coding utilizing SQL Server, SSIS, MS Access and Excel, VBA or like applications and/or programming languages, a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in systems necessary to operate in the ERCOT market, including CIS, FIM, ODS, familiarity with Texas SET, Right Now, and familiarity with MarkeTrack, a plus.
  • 3+ years of analytics experience for Data Analyst Sr; Strong analytics background, preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience as a business data analyst for Data Analyst Sr, preferred.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office products for Data Analyst Sr, preferred.
  • 3+ years CIS system experience for Data Analyst Sr, a plus.
  • 3+ years working with relational databases, queries, stored procedures, reports, forms, maintaining documentation and coding utilizing SQL Server, SSIS, MS Access and Excel, VBA or like applications and/or programming languages for Data Analyst Sr, a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures a plus.
  • Knowledge of and ability to research, understand, and communicate PUC Substantive Rules, ERCOT market rules, and ONCOR Terms and Conditions pertaining to payment and collections a plus.
