About the position

The Data Analyst I (DAI) is an entry-level role at UNC Health Foundation focused on supporting departmental and organizational priorities through data management and analysis. The DAI will build data sources, enhance data solutions, and work collaboratively with vendors and system users to ensure accurate reporting and data integration. This position requires a fundamental knowledge of relational databases and involves managing relationships with software vendors, soliciting data needs from clinical departments, and developing plans to meet those needs. The DAI will also assist in strategic analysis and reporting of development data from the University's donor and alumni database, ensuring high-quality and accurate data extracts and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Build data sources and enhance data solutions to support departmental and organizational priorities.
  • Work with vendors and system users to determine the best output for business needs.
  • Participate in vendor focus groups to improve products and lead user groups.
  • Review and incorporate other data sources into existing systems as needed.
  • Manage relationships with software vendors to ensure accurate data extraction and reporting.
  • Solicit data needs from clinical departments and develop plans to meet those needs.
  • Convene meetings with departmental staff to brainstorm productivity needs and develop plans accordingly.
  • Assist in developing staff benchmarks for productivity and prepare staffing models.
  • Pull data extracts for Development Officer progress reports and campaign reports.
  • Assist with electronic screening projects and integrate results into the CRM.
  • Develop in-house reports to identify areas of success and opportunity.
  • Propose and manage data analysis projects for prospect identification.
  • Manage the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of reports and dashboards.
  • Build capacity for sophisticated data visualization and analytics methods.
  • Identify potential transformational and major gift prospects using data mining and fundraising analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • If a Bachelor's Degree, requires no experience.
  • If an Associate's Degree, requires six (6) years of experience.
  • If High School degree, requires ten (10) years of experience.
