About the position

The Data Analyst V position at eBay involves performing complex data analysis to support management and customer requests. The role focuses on developing methodologies for analyzing and presenting data, ensuring data quality, and contributing to product development and improvement. The analyst will work closely with product partners to measure the impact of product changes on customer behavior and SEO, utilizing robust statistical knowledge and a passion for practical business impact.

Responsibilities

• Work with product partners to find practical solutions to business problems based on data.
• Set up testing (A/B test or pre-post) to measure performance effectively.
• Analyze large sets of data to understand the impact of product changes on customer journey and traffic/revenue goals.
• Drive cohort studies and analyses to understand customer behavior and identify opportunities for product improvement.
• Transform scientific/data analysis into clear business performance insights for product teams to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Ensure statistical rigor is applied to all analyses and business recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics/Mathematics or a quantitative field required (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of experience as a business analyst, data scientist, or in a related field.
• Understanding of statistics, experimental design, and causal inference.
• Excellent SQL skills and experience with data/statistical toolkits such as R, Python, PySpark.
• Expertise with business intelligence and/or data visualization tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy.
• Prior experience in performance measurement, regression techniques, optimization techniques, A/B testing for business applications.
• Ability to translate analytical insights into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical partners.
• Ability to spot and pursue opportunities, translating high-level directions into practical projects with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written, verbal, and social skills for effective communication across all organizational levels.
