About the position

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking a Data Analyst to design and develop databases and data loading processes, ensuring optimal information use. The role involves documenting data models, implementing data quality standards, and preparing reports on data validation. The Data Analyst will also support improvements to databases and ETL processes, collaborate with various teams, and provide user support for Cogito solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop structured and unstructured databases and data loading processes.
  • Document data model, database, ETL, data mapping, and data integration.
  • Write testable ETL processes and/or code using industry best practices and CI/CD/DevOps processes.
  • Implement data quality and departmental standards in line with organizational expectations.
  • Prepare and submit reports on data validation and loading to stakeholders and management.
  • Support and recommend improvements to databases and/or ETL operational processes.
  • Perform database, SQL, and/or ETL performance tuning.
  • Design, build, test and deploy Cogito solutions as assigned.
  • Provide user support/coaching/training related to Cogito usage.
  • Define and deploy standards and common processes for developers and users of Cogito tools.
  • Monitor for compliance and resolve noncompliant solutions with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Epic application teams on configurations and customizations.
  • Collaborate with Clarity/Caboodle administrators to load and validate data models/tables.
  • Conduct peer review and quality control sessions for new Cogito builds.
  • Monitor production usage, uptime, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and initiate corrective action as needed.
  • Utilize Data Courier to promote Cogito components across Epic environments.
  • Review Epic/vendor release notes and plan/conduct upgrades accordingly.
  • Coordinate with Infrastructure team on maintenance of hardware and database administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Two years of data analysis, database development, or related experience.
  • One year of experience utilizing programming/querying languages such as SQL.
  • Experience developing reports using reporting tools.
  • Experience utilizing data visualization tools.
  • Experience automating processes and reports.
  • Experience developing and implementing analytical applications.
  • Experience analyzing, manipulating, and processing large sets of data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Epic systems and Cogito solutions.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and tools.
  • Knowledge of data quality standards and practices.
