About the position

The Data Analyst position is a contract role with a DC Government Agency, located in Arlington, Virginia. This position is designed to support the Compliance and Operations Directorates by providing essential quantitative and qualitative analysis. The Data Analyst will play a crucial role in assisting senior leaders and staff in making informed, data-driven decisions and solving problems effectively. The role requires a strong focus on data collection, compilation, review, and analysis from various sources, including internal staff, external customers, and online resources. The Data Analyst will be responsible for supporting multiple programs, including the Customer Engagement (CX) Program and the Training and Education Program. This involves identifying trends and presenting program outputs such as scorecards, action plans, and reports to Commission Members. The analyst will also assist the Contracting and Strategic Programs Directorate with data analysis related to contracting and special projects. In addition to data analysis, the Data Analyst will utilize various statistical tools to generate tables and graphs, ensuring that the data is presented clearly and accurately. The role requires routine preparation of analytical results for both internal and public-facing presentations, training materials, and reports. The Data Analyst will also review historical data for inaccuracies and identify trends that may be of concern to Commission leadership, ensuring that all data is of high quality and completeness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis to assist senior leaders and other staff with fact-based, data-driven decision making and problem solving.
  • Support the Program by collecting, compiling, reviewing, and analyzing data from various sources to identify trends and present Program outputs like scorecards, pledges, action plans, and reports to Commission Members.
  • Support the Customer Engagement (CX) Program by collecting, compiling, reviewing, and analyzing data to identify trends and present Program goals and outputs like contract performance and customer satisfaction reports.
  • Support the Training and Education Program by collecting, compiling, reviewing, and analyzing data to identify trends and analyze Program productivity.
  • Assist the Contracting and Strategic Programs Directorate with data analysis in areas such as contracting and special projects as identified by Commission staff.
  • Collect and review reports, surveys, and data systems to check data and responses for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Use statistical analysis tools to generate statistical tables and graphs based on collected data using software like Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Excel, SPSS, and organization-specific databases.
  • Prepare analytical results for internal and public-facing presentations, training materials, reports, emails, and briefings on trends and analytical findings.
  • Review historical data to check for inaccuracies and identify trends of accomplishment and concern to elevate to Commission leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social science or related majors.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience performing data analysis in the public or private sector.
  • Expertise in collecting, compiling, reviewing, and analyzing data from a variety of sources.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Excel, SPSS, Power BI, SQL or Oracle is a big plus.
