About the position

Seattle City Light is seeking a Data Analyst to join its Customer Experience Division. This role focuses on leveraging customer and programmatic data to enhance the delivery of services and products to customers. The Data Analyst will be responsible for developing data tools, conducting analyses, and translating data into actionable insights to inform utility policies and programs.

Responsibilities

• Elicit requirements from internal stakeholders to determine business needs for data sources or reporting.
• Translate business needs into data modeling, dashboard development, and report creation.
• Develop tools for data auditing and ensure an auditable process for data collection and cleaning using R and/or Python.
• Perform extract, transform, and load (ETL) operations from data sources for modeling purposes.
• Utilize SQL and database procedures to develop complex operational reports.
• Analyze data to detect patterns, rules, anomalies, and statistically significant relationships.
• Communicate findings through technical reports and presentations to stakeholders.
• Design and develop complex Tableau dashboards based on stakeholder requests.
• Support team members with code reviews and testing of queries and reports.
• Train users on accessing and navigating reports and dashboards.
• Provide recommendations to inform the development of a customer analytics strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, finance, computer science, data science, or a related field.
• Two years of experience in systems, operations, procedures, research, or analysis.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with major relational database management systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with data analytics software packages including R and Python.
• Familiarity with Microsoft products, including SQL Server and Excel.
• Experience with data visualization software such as Tableau.
• Knowledge of utility industry data systems and business processes.
