About the position

The Data Analyst at Alarm.com plays a crucial role in transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. This position requires a highly motivated individual who can adapt to change and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic team environment. The analyst will work closely with stakeholders to develop reports, analyze business data, and support key projects, ultimately enhancing data availability and usability across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and automate reports to meet the Business Intelligence (BI) and analytical needs of stakeholders.
  • Interpret business data and analyze results to provide ongoing reports.
  • Provide analytical and data-driven decision-making support for key projects.
  • Gather functional requirements and collaborate with engineering to deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Communicate findings regularly to all levels of business and management.
  • Train internal and external stakeholders in utilizing reporting tools and analyzing results.
  • Set standards for data management and conceive projects to bridge the gap between current state and future goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or a relevant technical field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • 3 years of experience developing MicroStrategy reports, dashboards/dossiers, and familiarity with the MicroStrategy architecture.
  • 3 years of experience using SQL for data analysis; familiarity with other programming languages is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and translating technical content for a general audience.
  • Understanding of Data Management and the data lifecycle.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and tools, with flexibility to accept a wide range of responsibilities.
  • Highly motivated self-starter capable of operating under minimal supervision and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data visualization tools other than MicroStrategy.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and applications.
