The Administrator of Business Intelligence plays a crucial role in the department, focusing on advanced data analytics techniques to transform complex data into actionable insights and solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of data analysis, synthesis, and predictive modeling, particularly in operational, staffing, material usage, and financial data. The role is integral to conducting quantitative research and analysis, leading data projects, and providing comprehensive support to management. It is important to note that this position is 100% in-office, with no remote work options available. In this role, the Administrator will be responsible for designing, developing, monitoring, and maintaining data pipelines. This includes analyzing and organizing raw data, interpreting trends, and identifying patterns to support departmental needs and enterprise-level data initiatives. The Administrator will build and implement advanced predictive models and machine-learning algorithms to uncover insights and provide actionable recommendations. Utilizing ensemble modeling to enhance forecast accuracy and applying decision tree regression using R or similar programming languages will be key components of the job. The Administrator will also forecast operational needs, staffing levels, railcar availability, and other metrics to optimize resource utilization within the RS&S. Leading and conducting ad hoc and ongoing research projects will be essential, as will providing management with strategic operational scenarios and actionable recommendations for informed decision-making. The role involves defining key performance indicators and building dashboards, scorecards, and reports, ensuring that all graphical documentation meets service level and operational requirements. As the RS&S subject matter expert in data analytics, business intelligence, and operational reporting, the Administrator will provide insights related to reliability, vehicle performance, operations, asset management, staffing, and finance. Evaluating and recommending policy and programmatic changes, implementing these recommendations to enhance departmental effectiveness, and assessing the effectiveness of models and reports will also be part of the responsibilities. The Administrator will document analytical status, prepare interactive reports, and provide actionable insights for better decision-making, supporting the continuous improvement of analytical capabilities within the department. Excellent communication skills are necessary to interface effectively with various staff levels and disseminate and present analysis to management.
