About the position

The Data Analyst position at General Dynamics Land Systems in Scranton, PA, is an entry-level to mid-level role focused on utilizing advanced data analysis tools to enhance data collection processes and support manufacturing operations. The analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design dashboards, conduct studies on work standards, and implement continuous improvement projects to optimize resource utilization and reduce waste.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced features of Microsoft Excel, Power BI, IBM Cognos Analytics and other industry-standard data visualization tools to develop and enhance data collection processes.
  • Design and implement dynamic dashboards and interactive reports to facilitate real-time data analysis and decision making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver customized data visualization solutions that meet business needs.
  • Perform studies or cycle observations on work standards and equipment capacity models.
  • Develop and provide staffing requirements to meet operations plans.
  • Report on, monitor and impact Production department performance.
  • Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems to develop and implement plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods.
  • Analyze and design sequence of operations and workflow to improve efficiencies in equipment layouts and establish methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with Operation Sheets resulting in desired work standards.
  • Estimate new product labor costs and production planning.
  • Support production teams in achieving cost, quality, safety and schedule objectives by utilizing Lean Mfg. tools and conducting cycle observations to improve performance.
  • Conduct regular data audits and troubleshoot any issues related to data collection, storage, and retrieval to improve data quality.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement projects, using data-driven insights to optimize resource utilization and reduce waste.
  • Implement and promote LEAN manufacturing principals and 5S methodology to improve workplace organization, efficiency, and safety.
  • Conduct value stream mapping and process flow analysis to identify and eliminate non-value-added activities, enhancing overall process efficiency.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Person.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • College Degree in Business, Accounting, Data Analytics or Engineering preferred.
  • Excellent in Data Analysis, Excel and Power BI.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, presentation, and computer skills, comprehensive knowledge in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience interfacing with Production Team Leaders, Production Control, Operations Engineering, Tool Makers, CNC operators, general machinists, painters, assemblers, welders, quality inspectors and material handlers within a unionized workforce.
