About the position

The Data Analyst position at Axon involves analyzing critical datasets to support the company's mission of protecting life and enhancing law enforcement safety. The role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in data manipulation, and the ability to create compelling visualizations that drive decision-making. The analyst will work autonomously while collaborating with a small, agile team to build prototypes and contribute to significant projects that impact the company's product offerings and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze datasets such as TASER deployment data, automated device logs, Use of Force reports, and public crime data.
  • Create compelling visualizations that effectively communicate insights and drive decision-making.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Extract and manipulate data using Python and SQL.
  • Contribute to components of larger team projects, participating in code reviews and collaborative coding sessions.
  • Assist in building prototypes that streamline data processes, some of which may become user-facing features.
  • Apply mathematical modeling techniques, including linear and logistic regressions, and basic machine learning algorithms.
  • Manage your work autonomously, staying organized and proactively reaching out for help and guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in data analysis (internships and academic research work acceptable).
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques; basic understanding of mathematical modeling and machine learning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to manage your own projects and deadlines; willingness to help others and collaborate effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with functional programming and distributed data analysis tools like Spark.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., Elasticsearch).
  • Basic knowledge of NLP and ability to write simple ReGex expressions.
  • Understanding of code versioning tools like Git.
