About the position

The Data Analyst position at Chubb involves a variety of responsibilities centered around data acquisition, analysis, and reporting within the insurance sector. The successful candidate will be tasked with acquiring data from both primary and secondary insurance and reinsurance-related sources, ensuring the maintenance of databases and data pipelines. This role requires a keen eye for detail as the analyst will evaluate internal systems for efficiency, identify problems and inaccuracies, and develop protocols for data handling, processing, and cleaning. In addition to these tasks, the Data Analyst will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets, specifically within an insurance context. This includes developing and implementing data analyses and data collection systems that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. The role also involves locating and defining new process improvement opportunities and developing automated financial reporting and pricing processes as needed. The position is full-time, requiring 40 hours of work per week during the day shift, and is based in Philadelphia, PA. The company offers a competitive salary, and the specific offer will depend on the applicant's skills and other factors. The role may also be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual incentive program.

Responsibilities

  • Acquiring data from primary or secondary insurance/reinsurance-related data sources, maintain databases and data pipelines
  • Evaluating internal systems for efficiency, problems, inaccuracies, and developing and maintaining protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data
  • Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets in an insurance context
  • Developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Locating and defining new process improvement opportunities
  • Developing automated financial reporting/pricing processes as needed

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or other quantitative field
  • Any background in Economics, Finance or insurance is considered a plus
  • Proven working experience as a Data Analyst, Business Data Analyst, or similar role involving comparable programming/quantitative skillset
  • Technical expertise regarding data models and database design development
  • Knowledge of and experience with databases (SQL), programming (C#, VB .net or Python)
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
