About the position

The Data Analyst at NOVA Home Loans will be responsible for addressing the company's data requirements by developing prototypes and generating ad-hoc reports. This role involves managing analysis requests, providing data-driven solutions, and contributing to broader Technology department initiatives. The successful candidate will also oversee and safeguard critical data assets, ensuring efficient service delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop prototypes and generate ad-hoc reports to meet data requirements.
  • Manage analysis requests and provide prioritized, data-driven solutions.
  • Contribute to broader Technology department initiatives as directed by leadership.
  • Oversee and safeguard critical and sensitive data assets.
  • Build infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data using SQL technologies.
  • Leverage technology to automate processes and ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Act as a thought leader in developing systems to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify substandard systems processes and recommend improvements.
  • Research and recommend new systems, procedures, or organizational changes to optimize operations.
  • Foster relationships with partners/vendors for system integration and provide data-driven recommendations to management.
  • Participate in cross-departmental groups to ensure alignment on strategic objectives.
  • Define and lead data access requirements and facilitate strategic data sharing.
  • Collaborate with development teams on process design and review, providing feedback on test results.
  • Recommend system enhancements and assist in project prioritization based on business needs.
  • Lead data identification efforts and align data with business processes and strategic goals.
  • Facilitate meetings across departments to solve issues related to system modifications and process automation.
  • Identify business process improvements through investigation and analysis.
  • Participate in Agile processes and balance project work.
  • Develop, publish, and schedule reports and dashboards to meet business requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, data science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Data Analyst, including experience with big data tools, Power BI, and SQL Server.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • 2+ years' experience in a business analysis role or a BS in Data Science or related fields.
  • 1+ years' experience within the mortgage industry preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience creating ETL processes.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies and change management techniques.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, SharePoint, Agile Development, and PowerBI.
  • Experience with mortgage-related software like Encompass or other LOS platforms.
