About the position

Johnstone Supply, North America's leading wholesale distributor of HVACR equipment, parts, and supplies, is seeking a Data Analyst to join our Strategy & Data Analytics team. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity for a data professional to make a significant impact on the organization and witness the tangible effects of their contributions to the company's growth and success. The Data Analyst will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets to provide actionable insights that support data-driven decision-making across the organization. In this role, the Data Analyst will work closely with various departments to understand their data needs and deliver analytical support. The insights generated will be crucial in driving business growth and efficiency. The position requires proficiency in data analysis tools and languages, as well as experience with data visualization tools. The Data Analyst will also be responsible for developing and maintaining dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics. The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to our Taylor, MI or Ann Arbor, MI offices for planning meetings at least once per month. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Extract and manipulate large datasets from multiple sources using SQL and other data management tools.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs, provide analytical support and deliver actionable insights.
  • Utilize statistical methods and data visualization tools to interpret data and present findings.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support various business initiatives and projects.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data collection systems and data management processes.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across all data sources.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data analysis.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
  • Represent Johnstone Supply at trade associations, events, and local chapters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university, preferably in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, Python, R, or similar.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Phocas, Power BI, Tableau or similar.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and data modeling techniques.
  • Ability to work with big data technologies and cloud platforms is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
