About the position

The Data Analyst position at Disney Advertising is designed for an intellectually curious and analytical individual who will play a crucial role in driving improvements across the company's advertising portfolio. As part of the Data Science & Analytics team, the selected candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that enhance business growth and profitability. This role involves leveraging data to create and optimize audience segmentation models, which are essential for targeting specific audiences based on various factors such as brand affinities, app behavior, and video viewership. The analyst will also explore methods to expand audience sizes through look-alike modeling and will analyze the performance of these models in real-world campaigns, working closely with the audience modeling team to refine and optimize them. In this position, the analyst will enable data-driven analytics capabilities in a multichannel advertising environment, utilizing both internal and external datasets. The role requires proficiency in SQL and other analytical tools to generate insights that inform business processes and advertising products. The analyst will work with stakeholders to define analytics needs, scope projects, and build new analytics capabilities. Additionally, the role involves creating automated tools for analyzing results from controlled experiments, calculating statistical significance, and optimizing targeting practices. The analyst will also be responsible for building reporting tools and data pipelines to facilitate self-service analytics for sales teams, ensuring effective communication of analysis results to business stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a strong quantitative background, with a focus on driving measurable results in digital products. They should be innovative thinkers who can operate strategically while also being detail-oriented in execution. Excellent communication skills are essential for translating complex quantitative analyses into actionable recommendations that can influence business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze big data sets to understand user behavior and inform audience segment creation.
  • Build reporting tools and data pipelines for self-service analytics for sales teams.
  • Communicate results of analyses with business stakeholders.

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in a quantitative field (Math/Statistics, CS, Engineering, Business, Economics, experimental science, or similar).
  • 3+ years of experience driving measurable results with digital products across various business models.
  • Experience with SQL and complex, large-scale relational databases.
  • Proficiency in statistical programs and tools, with the ability to learn new applications quickly.
  • Experience building complex visualizations (Tableau and Looker a plus).
  • Innovative thinker capable of operating in both strategic and hands-on capacities.
  • Ability to translate quantitative analyses into actionable recommendations.
  • Great communication skills.
