About the position

Elder Research Inc. is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join their team, focusing on predictive analytics and machine learning. The role involves translating complex models into actionable solutions, supporting data manipulation, and creating data visualizations for custom client applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science and analytics, with a commitment to delivering value through innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Wrangling and fusing large and disparate data sets.
  • Assisting in the deployment of models and algorithms.
  • Automating the entire data pipeline.
  • Communicating model results through user-focused data visualizations.
  • Conducting data mining, data preparation, and reporting.
  • Preparing and conducting analyses and studies, needs/gaps assessments.
  • Determining the accuracy and reasonableness of data and proposed solutions.
  • Documenting and summarizing results and developing recommended solutions.
  • Preparing big data and implementing data models developed by others.
  • Providing database support for customer solutions.
  • Supporting data scientists or other consultants in assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Recently adjudicated Top Secret Clearance.
  • Four years of relevant experience in applied research, big data analytics, statistics, applied mathematics, data science, computer science, operations research, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least two years of experience in applied data science research or big data analytics.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a closely related scientific or technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of data mining methods, databases, data visualization, and machine learning.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to identify issues with data.
  • Experience with Qlik and PowerBI tools.
  • Understanding of database and database design.
  • Demonstrated experience with cleaning, managing, optimizing performance, and processing large volumes of data.
  • Demonstrated experience within an AWS environment (AWS certifications preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, time-series forecasting, and/or geospatial analytics.
  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark, or other parallel storage/computing processes.
