About the position

The Data Analyst role at Heartland FPG involves designing data modeling and analysis services to extract knowledge from enterprise systems, enhancing business processes. The position requires building, deploying, and maintaining data support tools and ensuring a high availability BI/data warehouse platform. The analyst will also define data standards and warehouse architecture models, contributing to the overall data management strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Devise, develop, and deploy required data visualizations and underlying data queries in response to business user needs.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation to support usage of visualizations and queries.
  • Develop data models and protocols for mining production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.
  • Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.
  • Identify research questions, problem solve using data analysis, and communicate results to various stakeholders.
  • Ensure best practices are established for effective problem resolution in a high availability, 24/7 global environment.
  • Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the BI/EDW architecture.
  • Coordinate the creation and management of data visualizations and queries with application development staff.
  • Collaborate with unit managers, end users, development staff, and other stakeholders to integrate data management applications with existing systems.
  • Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data models.
  • Create data definitions for new database file/table development and/or changes to existing ones.
  • Monitor data management system details within the database and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Diagnose and resolve data warehouse access and performance issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
  • Previous work experience delivering data and business intelligence solutions and integrations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of data management systems, data warehousing methodology, data quality, data modeling, data governance, analytics, and predictive modeling.
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL, data manipulation languages, and Microsoft's BI suite.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment utilizing techniques such as code versioning (e.g. git), code review, and agile software development.
  • Proven experience in BI/data warehousing planning and development.
  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Hands-on experience with data mining, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
  • Proven project management experience.
