Data Analytics and Systems Intern (remote)

About the position

The Data Architecture Intern at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) will gain practical experience in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to support the IRC NYC office. This unpaid internship focuses on transforming raw data into actionable insights, collaborating with various teams, and developing systems to enhance operational effectiveness. The intern will work under the guidance of the Data and Quality Assurance Coordinator, contributing to the organization's mission of aiding those affected by humanitarian crises.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with managers to understand organizational and program objectives.
• Develop processes to transform data into useful, actionable information.
• Build systems (apps, automations, other digital tools) that improve staff efficiency.
• Give data-based input to improve intake, referral, administrative, communication, and client screening processes.
• Provide data analysis to increase program scalability and impact.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary brainstorms, working sessions, and other collaborative discussions.
• Provide data analysis support responding to ad hoc report requests.
• Assist in creating Excel reports and dashboards as needed.
• Perform additional internship-related duties and responsibilities as requested.

Requirements

• Pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems or related field.
• 0-1 years of full-time experience in computer science, data analytics, or related field.
• Experience in data-gathering and analysis techniques.
• Experience (or a willingness to learn) Microsoft systems including: Power Automate, Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Virtual Assistant.
• Openness to learn organizational systems for data collection including ETO and IRIS.
• Passionate about understanding and building processes to help people in serious need.
