About the position

United Airlines is seeking a lead developer with a strong background in database and data analytics to join their Digital Technology team in Chicago, IL. This role focuses on building automated planning and reporting tools for the next generation revenue management system, collaborating with various technical and data analytics teams to support pricing and revenue management data needs. The position emphasizes the importance of diverse experiences and perspectives in driving innovation within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with technical and data analytics teams and business partners to support pricing and revenue management data needs.
  • Expand revenue management data warehouse and analytics capabilities.
  • Develop software applications and tools using agile development methodologies.
  • Design, develop, and modify software applications/systems that meet specifications.
  • Provide support to the software development process.
  • Apply security code best practices throughout the development cycle.
  • Stay updated with new technologies such as Gen-AI, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer/data engineering, data science, management information systems or a similar field.
  • 3+ years of SQL experience across database platforms including Oracle and MS SQL.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of SDLC processes, inputs/outputs, standards, and best practices.
  • Exhibit advanced knowledge of development methodologies, software design, and design patterns.
  • Proficient with AWS Redshift, RDS, and other AWS applications including Glue, EC2, S3, and Dynamo DB.
  • Proficient in data analytic tools such as Power BI and Spotfire.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Python.
  • Strong understanding of source code control tools (Gitlab) and branching model.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer without requiring sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong understanding of enterprise data landscape with an airline focus.
  • Experience with NoSQL Database like Mongo DB and Elasticache.
  • Understanding of Spark framework.
