About the position

The Data Analytics Engineer - Public Trust position at AMERICAN SYSTEMS is designed for an experienced professional with a strong background in the design, development, architecture, and implementation of large-scale enterprise data flow platforms. This role requires expertise in analyzing complex, legacy disparate non-conforming datasets. As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will be working with cutting-edge technology alongside a team of driven and highly skilled professionals. The position offers flexibility in managing work hours and personal needs through a single accrual leave plan, and it comes with a robust benefits package that includes an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). In this role, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and support of the Data Analytics platform's hardware and software. This includes deployment and ongoing support for host, application, appliance, and log monitoring and alerting. The Data Analytics System will be highly available with geographically diverse operating locations. You will demonstrate expert-level knowledge and experience in Big Data and Cloud technologies, including Spark ML, Splunk, Elastic Search, Apache NiFi, AWS Glue, Cribl.io Logstream, and Hadoop. Additionally, you will architect and deploy Person-Centric Services, utilizing AI/ML technologies, and lead efforts to modernize a portfolio of major legacy applications by leveraging cloud technologies, DevSecOps, and industry best practices. Your responsibilities will also include architecting and implementing change-data-capture (CDC) replication for unique disparate datasets of records into Spark ML for deduplication and graph theory entity/identity grouping. Furthermore, you will develop a scalable, automated enterprise-wide Security Event Management framework using Splunk to collect and analyze events, enabling the agency to perform predictive analysis using billions of events per month.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management, maintenance, and support of the Data Analytics platform hardware and software.
  • Deploy and support host, application, appliance, and log monitoring and alerting.
  • Demonstrate expert-level knowledge/experience in Big Data and Cloud technologies.
  • Architect and deploy Person-Centric Services using AI/ML technologies.
  • Lead modernization efforts for major legacy applications leveraging cloud and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Architect and implement change-data-capture (CDC) replication for disparate datasets into Spark ML.
  • Develop a scalable, automated Security Event Management framework using Splunk.
  • Analyze events to enable predictive analysis using billions of events per month.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of recent and relevant experience in data analytics engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business management, information technology management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Domain expertise in programming languages, data analytics, machine learning (ML/AI), DevSecOps, Cloud, and Big Data.
  • Technical skills in JavaScript, Ansible, SQL, Java, .Net, Python, and various data technologies such as Oracle, Cassandra, Elastic Search, and Hadoop.
  • Experience with software/tools like AWS, Docker, Jira, VMware, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Prometheus.
  • Cloud Native experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, CloudWatch, and DynamoDB.
  • Preferred certification: AWS Solutions Architect Associate.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel clearance (preferred but not required).
  • Prior experience with TSA's mission priorities, systems, and applications (preferred but not required).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across large groups of people at multiple levels.
