About the position

The Data Analytics Engineer at Zions Bancorporation plays a crucial role in transforming data into actionable insights to support financial and analytical reporting. This position involves a blend of responsibilities across data analysis, engineering, and business analysis, requiring collaboration with financial analysts and database specialists to ensure data accuracy and relevance. The role is pivotal in architecting and automating data systems that enhance financial data analytics, thereby contributing to the organization's commitment to technology and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and orchestrate data systems and processes for financial data analytics.
  • Work closely with financial product owners to gather data requirements and align them with source data capabilities.
  • Investigate and analyze data from various sources, including the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Lake.
  • Test, validate, and reconcile data attributes to ensure accuracy against source systems and business needs.
  • Mentor financial and operation analysts on data scope and impact of changes to enhance their analytics and reporting.
  • Create and maintain detailed metadata documentation.
  • Conduct tests, provide input for feasibility, and prepare user documentation.

Requirements

  • Very strong SQL background.
  • Experience with creating business intelligence solutions (SAP Business Object Reports, Power BI).
  • Hands-on experience with Python or PySpark for data processing, analysis, and ETL pipeline development.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others at all levels of technical expertise.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or other technical discipline; Master's preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience in data analytics/data engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data visualization tools beyond Power BI.
  • Familiarity with financial data analytics and reporting processes.
