About the position

The Principal Technology Architect - Data and Analytics at PSEG will leverage expert skills and knowledge to define and deliver comprehensive data and analytics solutions. This role is pivotal in contributing to the development and implementation of IT plans that align with the overall strategy of both IT and the business. As the Lead Architect on major data and analytics programs, the Principal Technology Architect will report directly to the Director of Analytics Architecture and Solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of business processes, data, and analytics technologies, ensuring that the solutions developed are not only effective but also strategically aligned with the company's goals. In this role, the Principal Technology Architect will partner and collaborate with various stakeholders to translate their goals and objectives into actionable data and analytics architectures. This includes creating and maintaining reusable analytics artifacts and patterns, such as conceptual, logical, and physical data models, as well as current and target-state data architectures. The architect will also be responsible for developing data and analytics policies, standards, guidelines, and metrics that measure architectural quality and business outcomes. The position involves engaging with implementation teams to promote the use of existing models and services, thereby increasing the speed and predictability of technology solution delivery. The Principal Technology Architect will also research modern architectural paradigms and ensure compatibility with existing solutions and strategic requirements. This role requires directing large specialist teams to deliver comprehensive analytics and data-centric projects, providing clear leadership and communication regarding the objectives and business outcomes of the data and analytics technology architecture. Additionally, the architect will support decision-making in data and analytics technology spending, simplify existing data architecture, and participate in the development of the data and analytics ecosystem strategy. This includes evaluating and recommending emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics, making this a critical role in shaping the future of PSEG's data and analytics capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner and collaborate with stakeholders to translate goals into data & analytics architectures and models.
  • Lead the data design of solutions for analytics projects and programs across applications and infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain reusable analytics artifacts and patterns, including data models and architectures.
  • Develop data & analytics policies, standards, guidelines, and metrics for measuring architectural quality.
  • Engage with implementation teams to promote the use of existing models and services, enhancing technology solution delivery.
  • Research architectural paradigms and modern constructs impacting technology architecture.
  • Ensure compatibility with existing solutions and strategic requirements.
  • Direct large specialist teams in delivering comprehensive analytics and data-centric projects.
  • Communicate objectives and business outcomes of data & analytics technology architecture to stakeholders.
  • Support evaluation and decision-making in data & analytics technology spending.
  • Participate in the development of the data & analytics ecosystem strategy, including opportunity identification and value cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis, or a related field.
  • 8-15 years of experience in technology solution engineering, including disciplines such as business, information, solution or technical architecture, application development, and database management.
  • Broad knowledge of data modeling, metadata systems, data quality tools, BI and reporting, and database technologies.
  • Experience in data lakes, data warehousing, data modeling, and data analysis for both on-premise and cloud-based deployments.
  • Good knowledge of data management, data integration, and database development techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in data & analytics architecture ownership and adoption.
  • Proven track record of translating business outcomes and requirements into data & analytics architectures and standards.
  • Strong understanding of data & analytics technology architecture and platforms.
