About the position

The Data Analytics Specialist in Human Resources at Dallas College is responsible for applying advanced and predictive analysis, people metrics, and reporting to develop strategic and operational insights for HR Operations. This role involves assessing organizational HR processes, identifying requirements, and providing technical and analytical reporting to support HR operations. The specialist collaborates with various departments to align and support the mission of Dallas College.

Responsibilities

  • Provide data analysis, ad hoc reporting and ensure system integrity of Core HR and third-party interoperated systems.
  • Pro-actively analyze HR system needs, recommend best practice approaches to systems maintenance and improvement.
  • Work with HR units to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Serve as point of contact for data related issues and questions, ensuring integrity of data and adherence to set data schemas.
  • Work closely with Information Technology and Institutional Research departments to troubleshoot/resolve issues related to data conversion, data cleanup, and audit information.
  • Develop system and user documentation such as process definition maps, user guides, and system administration documents.
  • Ensure data analytics are in alignment with Dallas College objectives.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in HR information systems with a focus on product and service development, delivery, and support.
  • Participate in user group meetings/conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field, or an associate degree plus 2 years' experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience with data analytics tools such as Excel, SQL Server, Python, R, DAX, PowerBI, or SAS.
  • Strong familiarity with SQL, Data Visualization tools, Statistical Programming, and enterprise software-as-a-service (SaaS) systems.
  • Experience in developing key performance indicators and mapping suitable analytic solutions.
  • Experience in supporting new and existing enhancements of HR systems, including system interfaces and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional subject matter experts (SMEs) and key stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Data analytics certificate is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
  • Advanced experience with SQL, Workday HCM, Power BI, Workday Reporting or HR Business Process Data.
