About the position

The Data Analytics Specialist (Human Resources) at Dallas County Community College District is responsible for applying advanced and predictive analysis to develop strategic insights for HR operations. This role involves assessing HR processes, identifying requirements, and providing technical and analytical reporting to support HR initiatives. The specialist collaborates with HR and IT to align strategies with the college's mission, ensuring effective data management and reporting across various HR systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide data analysis and ad hoc reporting to ensure system integrity of Core HR and third-party systems.
  • Analyze HR system needs and recommend best practices for systems maintenance and improvement.
  • Work with HR units to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, and analytics strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Serve as the point of contact for data-related issues, ensuring data integrity and compliance with guidelines.
  • Collaborate with IT and Institutional Research to troubleshoot data conversion and cleanup issues.
  • Create system and user documentation, including process maps and user guides.
  • Ensure data analytics align with Dallas College objectives.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in HR information systems and apply key technologies through professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field, or an associate degree plus 2 years of experience.
  • Two years of experience with data analytics tools such as Excel, SQL Server, Python, R, DAX, PowerBI, or SAS.
  • Strong familiarity with SQL, data visualization tools, and enterprise SaaS systems.
  • Experience in business requirements gathering, process mapping, and gap analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.
  • Data analytics certificate is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced experience with SQL, Workday HCM, Power BI, and HR Business Process Data.
