About the position

The Data Analytics & Visualization Architect at the Oregon Patient Safety Commission (OPSC) is a strategic role focused on enhancing patient safety through effective data management and visualization. This position aims to make data more accessible to various stakeholders, develop systems for data collection and analysis, and support program evaluation and improvement. The architect will collaborate with leadership to create success measures and standard reports, ensuring the integrity and quality of data across OPSC's programs.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and maintain data systems and visualizations to illustrate OPSC's impact and support program evaluation.
  • Partner with organizational leadership to develop success measures and prepare standard analytic reports.
  • Design and maintain automated data jobs and scripts, including Python scripts, to streamline workflows.
  • Perform ongoing data quality evaluations and maintain data systems for OPSC programs.
  • Coordinate data systems changes and improvements, supporting agency data governance activities.
  • Work with program staff and leadership to ensure reliable and consistent data collection and reporting.
  • Identify and implement data strategies to support reporting and communication needs.

Requirements

  • Five years of information systems experience in managing data visualization projects and reporting tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or completion of a two-year vocational training program, plus three years of relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, plus one year of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in data architecture and visualization using SQL, Python, or R.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in managing information system projects from design to implementation.
  • Familiarity with analyzing business needs and proposing system enhancements.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to non-technical staff.
  • Experience in translating data for public presentation.
